Meet The Brigade Team
Alex Marin, 23 years old, has been a constant on the downhill world cup circuit since his breakout season in 2014 at the age of just 16. Alex’s passion
for riding and energetic personality make him a great fit for The Brigade. When not racing downhill, Alex can be found training, riding motocross and
honing his skills at the bike park.
“After being with professional teams and factory teams for the past 6 years my goal was to find a group of people who felt more like a family. When I feel comfortable with a team it’s much easier for me to ride at my best, and this is what I found when I started working with the guys in The Brigade Team.
I’m really happy working with all The Brigade Team, all the guys are on the same page and I’m really proud of all the brands supporting the team. We’re all working together really well, with the same goals.
Of course, it’s a shame we couldn’t race any World Cup races this year, I was feeling really really good going into this season, but we have the right team and people and I’m really excited about the 2021 season.
Rudy Cabirou, 25 years old, the flying Frenchman of The Brigade Team. Rudy’s home in Millau is littered with steep tracks, and technical terrain, the perfect setting for developing World Cup racing skills. Our Frenchie is a constant threat to the podium and placed 8th overall in Lenzerheide as well as racking up a solid performance during the 2020 French Cup.
“I’m so pumped for joining The Brigade Team in 2020! We put in a lot of work during the offseason testing on the bike and suspension. It was so interesting, we found good settings on the bike and we were ready to race.
Unfortunately, we had a strange year with COVID 19 and all the World Cups were cancelled. But one thing is sure, we found a good balance with the team between racing, training like pros and having fun! We built a great atmosphere altogether and it feels good to be going to races with the guys.
For 2021 I’m looking for some changes in my preparation, riding more on the downhill bike during winter and hope for some good results. The goal will be to be in the Top 20 regularly.”
Melanie Chappaz, 21 years old, has been riding bikes since the age of 5 and racing downhill since 2015. Melanie is no stranger to success and won the UCI Junior World Championships in 2017. Her home town, close to Geneva, is a great stomping ground for riding and training, but when she’s not on a bike she can be found having fun joking around and generally making the most of life.
“I’m super excited about joining The Brigade for 2021. I feel I’ve definitely chosen the right team, the atmosphere is really good and the guys are all really professional, they know how to enjoy themselves but also know when it’s time to get serious. I’m fortunate that I already know most of the crew and am really looking forward to working with everyone. I’m really keen to begin racing this season, I feel now with The Brigade and this great team, I have the opportunity to ride faster and harder, I’ll definitely be up there, closer to the fastest girls this season. I can’t wait for what the future has in store! “
Rafael Gutiérrez Villegas, 26 years old, joins The Brigade for 2021. Rafael is from Colombia and is a skilled downhill racer.
“I’m beyond stoked to join The Brigade! This is my first factory team and I couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to be surrounded by! 2021 is shaping up to be a challenging year, but I also expect it to be a lot of fun learning from my teammates, testing our bike and components and getting to race at the highest level. I’m so fortunate to have the support The Brigade, my teammates and all of our excellent sponsors.”
